Raised by Gar Davidson in 1978. Gay Twinkle is one of the most successful show dahlias ever grown in Australia. It won the show dahlia of the year in America one year by winning the Stanley Johnson medal, one of only a few ever won by an Australian cultivar. Even as recent as 2023, Charlie Smith won best miniature cactus in show in Tasmania. I was lucky enough to see this medal in 2020 when I paid a visit to Joyce Davison, Gar’s widow in East Gippsland Victoria.
